Zens asian grill1/17/2024 ![]() ![]() ![]() An earthy grilled octopus ($14.95) was a similar knockout, the flesh the right firm consistency.Īs we were catching our breath, my friend pointed to the remnants: “They’re just too good to leave.” ![]() The thinnest slices of seared heritage beef were laid atop a shrimp tempura roll with an aromatic balsamic. Like how the tacos didn’t square neatly into any one canon, the wagyu roll ($14.95) ventured into fusion territory, flirting with the West. Spicy tuna tacos ($9.95) were a bright, beautiful combination of diced sushi-grade fish, crème fraiche, mashed avocado, fresh jalapeños and sweet segments of ruby-red Japanese citrus enveloped by crispy wonton shells. The other, enchanted by the plum-sweetened soy sauce, echoed, “This is wonderful-the flavor is drawn down the stalk.” Our first dish, bok choy ($6.95) dipped in a deep fryer and dusted with toasted walnuts, elicited an early, “I would definitely come back here,” from one of my companions. It came cleverly presented with shot glasses wedged in shaved ice. We also felt a bottle of Tozai Snow Maiden nigori ($15.95), a smooth yet stiff version of the rice wine, was in order. My friends and I decided we’d order rounds to share and pace ourselves, endurance being the goal.Ī quick glance at the succinct wine and beer list, and we couldn’t resist the Tiki-esque “Drunken Watermelon” ($14.95), the only mixed drink: a hollowed-out shell refilled with pulp swirled with chilled house sake. “We’re a Japanese pub with Korean barbecue serving Asian tapas.” “Welcome to our family restaurant,” our waiter said as we sat down. I had guessed it was only a matter of time before Naples saw Japan’s freshly spun ramen, chewy Taiwanese boba and Seoul’s soy-slicked tabletop-grilled meats-but I didn’t expect them all to launch from one place, or to such exacting standards. Grill your own meat with this Japanese hot stove. Most restaurants conquering more than one country’s food have played it safe with a cookie-cutter formula: basic selection of sushi, a few Thai curries, some Japanese entrées, done. In fact, if you took every trendy Asian dish that had eluded our shores and boxed it up with edgy, laidback surroundings, you’d get Zen Asian BBQ, a storefront that opened on U.S. ![]()

Pi bonds vs sigma bonds1/17/2024 ![]() ![]() Therefore, we can conclude that NCO does not have a linear structure. It is a polar molecule with a dipole moment resulting from the asymmetric distribution of electrons around the nitrogen and carbon atoms. NCO, on the other hand, has a bent or angular shape with a bond angle that is not 180 degrees. This is because it is isoelectronic with CO2, which is a linear molecule. However, it is important to note that the closely related −NCO (−N=C=O) molecule is linear. The NCO- molecule has a unique structure due to its ambidentate ligand nature and linear geometry. ![]() The nitrogen atom is bonded to the carbon atom by a triple bond, and the carbon atom is bonded to the oxygen atom by a double bond. The NCO- molecule is made up of three atoms: nitrogen, carbon, and oxygen. It is an ambidentate ligand, whch means that it can donate electrons from either the nitrogen or oxygen site. The NCO- molecule has a negative charge present over the nitrogen and oxygen atoms due to electron resonance. The linear geometry of the molecule results in a bond angle of 180 degrees. NCO- is an anion that has a linear geometry with sp hybridization. The NCO- molecule is a chemical compound that has a unique structure. It is important to note that the Lewis structure does not account for the molecular geometry of NCO, which is linear. The triple bond betwen the carbon and nitrogen atoms is composed of one sigma bond and two pi bonds. In this structure, the nitrogen atom has a lone pair of electrons and a formal charge of -1, while the carbon atom has a formal charge of +1 and the oxygen atom has a formal charge of -1. The carbon atom is also bonded to the oxygen atom. The nitrogen atom is the central atom and is bonded to both the carbon and oxygen atoms. ![]() The Lewis structure for NCO, also known as isocyanate, is composed of one nitrogen atom, one carbon atom, and one oxygen atom. Understanding the molecule’s resonance structure is key to understanding its properties and reactivity. Its ambident nucleophile properties make it incredibly useful in a wide range of chemical reactions. The NCO- molecule is a complex and versatile molecule that has a unique Lewis structure. It is important to be aware of thee similarities and differences, as they can impact how the molecule behaves in different chemical reactions. One example is NCO+, which is a non-linear molecule. It is worth noting that there are other molecules that are similar to NCO. This resonance structure is important because it helps to explain some of the molecule’s unique properties. This results in the carbon atom displaying positive charge, while the nitrogen and oxygen atoms display negative charge simultaneously. In terms of its resonance structure, the carbon atom in the NCO- molecule is induced by the nitrogen and oxygen atoms. This property makes the molecule incredibly versatile in terms of its reactivity. As such, it is known as an ambidentate ligand. This is because it has the ability to donate electrons from either the nitrogen atom or the oxygen atom. The NCO- molecule is regarded as an ambident nucleophile in nucleophilic substitution reactions. ![]()

Green beryl1/17/2024 ![]() The word “beryl” is derived from the Latin “beryllus,” which means “precious blue-green stone of the seawater.” Beryl comes in many intense colors and there are many transparent varieties in this family of stones. These gemstones are often found in igneous and metamorphic rocks all around the globe. The popular gems emerald, aquamarine, and morganite are all part of this family. The mineral beryl is made up of beryllium aluminum silicate and comes in multiple colors. Depending on the angle and base coloration of the beryl, faceting it in the wrong direction could show a purplish red or orangish red instead of a pure, vivid red. Many of the stones within the Beryl family are popular in jewelry and are very treasured. The greater saturation also makes the pleochroism, or the way beryl splits light more obvious. Thanks to higher concentration of manganese, red beryl manages to reach the deep red saturation that morganite crystals never achieve. Despite their high appeal, the compounded scarcity of red beryl restricts them almost exclusively to being a collector’s gem. Furthermore, the amounts mined are sporadic and unstable. They have only been found in the area around the Wah Wah mountains in Utah to-date, usually in small sizes yielding around 0.2 carats. As a result the gemological community officially refers to it as red beryl. This name has led the gem to be confused with Bixbyte, also named after Bixby. It is also known under the name Bixbite, named after Maynard Bixby for discovering it 1897. It displays deep, vivid reds unlike most of its mineral cousins except for emeralds. Red beryl is the rarest variety of beryl. The yellow can look washed-out in smaller specimens otherwise.įaceted red beryl, and rough, uncut red beryl ![]() This low saturation also makes larger sizes of this gem ideal to display color. Like morganite, they only display light to medium tones and saturations, rarely if ever reaching highly vivid lemon-yellow colors. ![]() While the examples below display ideal color, heliodor can also be a greenish yellow, orangish yellow, or brownish yellow. The yellow color comes from traces of iron. The trade name of yellow beryl is heliodor, translating from Greek as “Gift from the Sun”. Upon exposure to light or heat the dark blue will fade again. When other varieties of beryl such as goshenite (colorless beryl), morganite, and aquamarines are irradiated, they will reach the deep blue maxixe colors. The color in maxixe beryl can be restored with irradiation, but this treatment is not permanent. Initially enthralled with the color, gem dealers became disenchanted with it when they learned how quickly the color fades. The dark blue colors of maxixe were originally discovered in 1917 in a mine of the same name in Brazil. However, most gem vendors do not bother with gems that are not vividly colored, regardless of whether they are emeralds or sapphires. Saturation, or how rich and vivid the color is, plays a role too. The precise distinction between the two is not universally recognized between different countries, despite the available guidelines. What officially distinguishes emeralds and green beryl is usually their tone, with light green being green beryl, and vivid to dark greens being emeralds. Green beryl is not to be confused with emeralds since they are the same gem material colored by the same trace elements (chromium and vanadium). Aquamarines cannot heal their fractures the way rubies and sapphires can. The specific absence of liquid inclusions is important, because otherwise the liquid will cause fractures to rupture inside the aquamarine and damage it instead. Their clear nature also makes aquamarines ideal for heat-treating to display improved colors. It also makes them ideal gems for carving, like with Dom Pedro aquamarine, or this carved aquamarine of Poseidon (Greek god of the ocean) fighting an octopus. Since they often only show a lighter blue color, larger pieces are more desirable to display deeper blues. These sea-blue gems often grow large and clear, making them ideal for faceting.

Free cash flow formula finance1/16/2024 ![]() One of the impacts accounting policies have on financial statements is the implication of non-cash expenditures.įCF is a measurement of profitability that eliminates these non-cash expenses and includes cash expenses for acquiring assets and changes in working capital over a given period of time.įCF = cash flow from operations + interest expense – tax shield on interest expense – capital expenditures (CAPEX). How to calculate free cash flow (FCF)įree cash flow is the amount of cash a business creates after considering all cash outflows. How to Calculate Discounted Cash Flowsīecause Discounted cash flow models depend on free cash flow, calculating a DCF is both a progressive and cumulative process. It’s critical that the assumptions that are being input into a discounted cash flow model are accurate-otherwise, the model tends to lose its effectiveness. One key benefit of using Discounted cash flow valuations over a relative market comparable approach is that the calculation is not influenced by marketwide over or under-valuation. The DCF model relies on free cash flow (FCF), which is a reliable metric that reduces the noise created by accounting policies and financial reporting.
